About Karl

It was the early 2000’s, I was a DJ, there was a pretty girl who had dreams of becoming a model; so I bought a camera and started to learn how to use it. Sometimes we don’t recognize the most significant moments in our lives as they are happening, but looking back, this is why I’m a photographer today.

In 2010 I received my degree in digital commercial photography from Harrington College of Design in Chicago, IL. This is where I learned the technical skills that opened my eyes to the real world of photography. As I began to actually understand and appreciate photography, the photographic process, and the history of the artform, I quickly transformed from hobbyist to full on addict.

In school I gravitated towards product and tabletop photography, which led me to focus on making food and beverage images. It was my last semester in school when I was introduced to a high speed trigger system (thanks Dirk)…this changed my life. From that day forward I invested thousands upon thousands of hours of experimenting, practicing, and learning all things high speed photography, with a focus on liquids.

Liquid high speed photography was my thing, my favorite thing, my only thing, until 2018; while on a trip to Denali National Park in Alaska, my life changed again. It was in Alaska, while capturing the vastness of the wilderness and experiencing the panoramic views with my own eyes, that I fell in love with shooting landscapes.

Back home in Colorado, I still shoot landscapes thanks to the beauty of our state, I also love to shoot the amazing street art that has come to be a staple of Denver. To sum it up, I am passionate about all things photography, and my passion is contagious, so hit me up, I am available for for hire, collaboration, consultation, and instruction.
